Saber y conocer
Saber and conocer translate to the same thing in English-- "to know"-- but they are used in completely different contexts.
TEner + que + infinitive
When we use this formula, we're trying to say that someone or something has to perform or complete an action.

To properly use the tener+que+infinitive formula, you have to combine a conjugated form of tener (depending on whether it is in the present, preterite, or imperfect tense; and also depending on who you are speaking to/about), with the word "que" and an infinitive verb, such as "correr" on the end. Simple as that! Here are some examples:
- Tengo que beber agua.
- Tuve que ir a la biblioteca.
- Tenía que ver una documentario.
- Tienes que comprar un vestido para su fiesta.
- Tuviste que leer el libro.
- Tenías que barrer el suelo.
- El tiene que ir a la bodega.
- Ella tuvo que correr.
- Usted tenía que cantar para una clase.
- Nosotros tenemos que comprar una tarta de frutas.
- Tuvimos bailar en la fiesta.
- Teníamos dar un discurso.
- Vosotros tenéis que sacar la basura.
- Tuvisteis que aprender la lección.
- Teníais que montar las bicicletas.
- Ellos tienen que ir a el hospital.
- Ellas tuvieron que nadar en la piscina.
- Ustedes tenían que comer.
